F**K you John

Alright John,

This one goes out to you.  How dare you sir?  How dare you?  The sheer breadth and depth of your hubris astounds me.  And to you Elizabeth: How could you be complicit in this lie?  Really?

This election is about more than those who are running in it:  in fact, it ought to be least about them.  It is about the fate of this country, and the fate of the world.

To Hell With You....

Yeah, To hell with you Barack...at least that's what I would say if I wasn't an atheist.  I'd tell you to go to hell for further eroding our constitution by giving MY FREAKIN tax dollars to CHURCHES!!!  Goddammit you have made me so mad........but more than that, sad.  Really sad.

The Lady Has Class

Hillary Rodham Clinton just sent the following letter out to all of her supporters:

I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.

On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.

I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.

When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House.

I made you -- and everyone who supported me -- a promise: to stand up for our shared values and to never back down. I'm going to keep that promise today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.

I will be speaking on Saturday about how together we can rally the party behind Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise.

I know as I continue my lifelong work for a stronger America and a better world, I will turn to you for the support, the strength, and the commitment that you have shown me in the past 16 months. And I will always keep faith with the issues and causes that are important to you.

In the past few days, you have shown that support once again with hundreds of thousands of messages to the campaign, and again, I am touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness.

I can never possibly express my gratitude, so let me say simply, thank you.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

To Teddy

I am blessed with a memory that is far better than most.  So I am fortunate to remember Teddy Kennedy when I was three years old speaking at the 1980 democratic national convention.  I remember  my father and my mother who fought for you that year.  I do not remember all that you said....I understood your full speech in later years, and have appreciated it more as I have grown in years myself.

Tonight, I want to pay tribute to the great Liberal Lion of the United States Senate.  Here's to you Teddy.  You have been a hero of mine since I was a child, and when I heard you were so sick today, my eyes welled up and spilled over.

Thank you for all you have done for this country.  Thank you for standing up for those with no voice.  For women.  For minorities. For children.  For those born with less.

You came into this world born of privilege, yet you have dedicated your life to bettering those who had, from the outset, far less.

I disagreed with you when you endorsed Barack Obama, but I respect your decision.  And I, like so many others, love you, despite our inter-family disagreements, as a member of our great democratic an American family.

I thank you; from the depths of my heart, for standing up for all of us over all of these years.  Though I am not a religious person myself, I offer my prayers, for what they may be worth, that God will take care of you, and yours, during the fight that your will be undertaking.  I wish that there was something more that I could do, or offer, other than my thanks, my prayers, and best wishes.

With greatest respect and admiration,

-Katherine

Contribute for HealthCare: Have Your Contribution to Hillary Matched!!!

Hey all,

Until midnight tonight, every dollar you contribute to Hillary's campaign will be MATCHED!  As we all know, the critically important contests in the great states of Indiana and South Carolina are fast approaching (May 6).  Hillary needs us all to do whatever we can to help her win in these crucial states.

The issue of biggest concern to me in this election is healthcare.  I, like many people out there, have a pre-existing medical condition.  I pay 25% of my after tax income so I can have health insurance.  Luckily, I make enough that I can just afford my rent and living expenses after that.  There are many people who cannot afford it--and they DIE because they do not have enough money.  This shouldn't happen in the United States of America.  It is a moral imperative that we right this grievous wrong and provide healthcare for every person in this country.  No one should die in the richest country in the history of the world for lack of basic medical care.  To my mind, the fact that they do, every day, is our greatest failing.  Hillary has the ONLY plan that will cover ALL Americans.  Senator Obama's plan, by various estimates/analyses, leaves 15,000,000 of our fellow Americans without healthcare.  We CAN do better than this.  We SHOULD do better than this.  We MUST.  By helping Hillary win in Indiana and South Carolina we get closer to this goal.

So please give what you can.  Make phone calls.  Travel if you are able.  We're all in this together.  Let's get it right this time.

Love and Peace to all.  (Please Rec this diary (I hate to ask but this is too important)).  Thanks!!!!!

I needed a reminder of why I'm a Democrat

I've been feeling very disillusioned about this election.  I have not wanted to ever have to swallow voting for Barack Obama.  I still hope I don't have to and that Hillary Clinton is our nominee.  But, I just read Bob Herbert's editorial in the Times http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/12/opinio n/12herbert.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&am p;oref=sloginand it reminded me of why in the hell I am a democrat in the first place.  Any why, if I have to, I will work my ass off to elect Barack Obama should he be our nominee.  We cannot let this country slide completely into the abyss.  We are Americans.  I love this country so damn much, and I don't want to see it fall apart, be torn apart, be swept away.  I don't want to see the money that could be spent to build us up; to educate our children; to heal our sick; to feed our poor--be spent in the deserts of the Middle East.  Only by banding together can we collectively save ourselves.  So here's to all of you out there.  Here's to fighting our real enemies.  Here's to saving our country and maybe, if we can, our world.  Love to all.  Peace.
